MICROCELL

A macrocell is a cellular network cell that serves to provide radio coverage for a broad region of mobile network access. A macrocell varies from a microcell as it has a wider coverage area and performs more efficiently. The macrocell is used on stations with higher output power, generally in the tens of watts range. A macrocell is an element of the radio access network that provides the cellular network with critical radio coverage. At cellular base stations, macrocell antennas are often installed on towers and/or masts. In comparison to the previous generation of 4G LTE services, macro cells utilized in 5G networks can efficiently deliver cellular network coverage over a greater region. 5G networks can deliver services that span a pretty big town thanks to the use of macrocells. This property of macrocells is very significant when it comes to the potential of the 5G network to link billions of devices over a large region. It also speeds up the service by lowering the system’s latency or response time.

MICROCELL

Microcells provide a number of benefits over macrocells, including being smaller, cheaper, and requiring less maintenance. They may also be used in a variety of network-expanding applications where standard cell towers are ineffective. Microcells also provide a lot of financial benefits to landowners, particularly those with property in crowded metropolitan areas where more bandwidth is needed but there isn’t enough space for huge cell towers. Because typical macrocell sites cannot be installed in high-density urban areas, cellular operators turn to tiny cell technologies like microcells to increase their coverage. A frequent use for microcells, similar to Distributed Antenna Systems, is to use them during outdoor events performed in stadiums or amphitheaters. Events like NFL games are renowned for placing a lot of strain on macrocell networks since the flood of users can cause the quality of available bandwidth to rapidly deteriorate.

FEMTO CELL

A femtocell is a small wireless entrance point that boosts internal cellular coverage. Femtocells are tiny mobile base stations that improve coverage for residential and commercial use. The use of femtocells can improve the signal strength of mobile operator base stations. Indoor users benefit from femtocells because they reduce network congestion, extend coverage, and increase data capacity. A femtocell is a small wireless right of entry point that boosts indoor cellular coverage. Femtocells are unlike other cellular connection solutions.  They link back to the internet to give cellular network access in the homes or workplaces.

SMALL CELLS USED IN 5G

We now live in a world where worldwide communication is feasible because of advancements in smartphone technology, internet speed, and accessibility. We are now heading toward the 5G era. Internet usage has increased by more than 200 percent in the previous decade, and it is predicted to more than double by 2025 as more gadgets connect to it. Higher speeds (up to 10 Gbps), better coverage, and greater dependability of 5G can help actualize the future of the Internet of Things (IoT), linked automobiles, and smart cities (by leveraging ultra-wide bandwidth and throughput). However, due to a greater spectrum, the typical wireless infrastructure approach to 5G has several limits, such as penetration and signal reach. Small cells have a role in this. Small cells enhance the volume of traffic that can be handled in a given space while also speeding up the process.

In contrast to small cells’ high-frequency millimeter wave (MM wave), macrocells, such as cell towers, will connect 5G networks, and these bigger base positions will allow for lower 5G frequencies. Transporters will also deliver 5G femtocells in lieu of personal or small business use. The dissimilarities in size, coverage, and cost between macrocells, small cells, and femtocells are obvious, but each plays a significant role in the advancement and implementation of the 5G network and technology.

Miles and Debbie Koon founded Nouveau Construction and Technology in 1997 with a focus on superior customer service on small- to large-scale contracting and infrastructure projects. The rising necessity of data networking added a new layer to both new construction and renovations and Nouveau answered that need.

Using the latest cutting-edge technology, Nouveau partners with commercial clients, public institutions, educational properties, and healthcare facilities to develop and improve each facility’s environment toward greater beauty, productivity, and data access.

We have decades of experience with everything from new construction to historic building renovations, pre-construction consultation, value engineering, telecom infrastructure, and distributed antenna systems. As a highly recognized Job Order Contractor and DAS Integrator, we are committed to delivering solutions that ignite new momentum with our customers while fostering long-term relationships.

Debbie Koon

Partner, CEO/President

Debbie Koon has been involved in the construction industry since the establishment of Nouveau in 1997. Debbie provides daily guidance and leadership for all aspects of the company, overseeing the administrative aspects of day-to-day operations, including financial functions and HR responsibilities. She is responsible for project tracking, reporting, and contract review.

Prior to starting Nouveau, Debbie worked in the banking industry and GTE (Verizon). There she worked with the Education and Training Department, as well as the Business Office, where she served customers across the country. She also gained experience and perspective working for the Lewisville Independent School District. The knowledge gained from these partnerships has given Debbie the ability to manage this diverse company, while her customer-focused approach provides Nouveau with consistent leadership toward success.

Miles Koon Jr.

Chief Operating Officer

For the last twenty years, Miles’s highest priority has been instilling the vision of Nouveau in everyone on our team. Prior to co-founding Nouveau, Miles Jr. attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where his victories on the football field laid the foundation for his leadership skills. Nouveau gave him the opportunity to excel in his leadership for all areas of the company, from his work in the Technology department to managing construction projects. He fosters a steadfast reputation of a diligent work ethic and the ability to live out our company’s values.

Miles Jr. is directly accountable to ownership for maintaining our company vision and financial stability. He is crucial to establishing company culture with his ability to motivate and encourage all members of our team, and leads our company efficiency improvements, ensuring our path to success. Miles is committed to putting our customers first while developing and maintaining quality relationships with our clients.

Mike Murad

Director of Sales

Mike is an accomplished sales executive who has decades of telecom experience in the wireless industry. His background includes over 24 years of progressively responsible positions in business, sales, and management.  Throughout this time, he has spearheaded a vast range of programs that have enabled his customers the most reliable wireless in-building solutions in the industry.  He has demonstrated success in all aspects of technology strategy planning, business analysis & development, and the design and implementation of in-building wireless systems.

Mike has closed over $50M in sales to Fortune 500 clients and managed domestic sales operations, Carrier and OEM organizations.

Miles Koon Sr.

Miles Koon Sr, Partner, has been directly involved in various management aspects of the construction, electrical, and communication industries since 1985, including being Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer of one of the largest electrical and communication companies in Texas.  In 1997, Miles and his wife, Debbie, started Nouveau Technology Services as a communications and construction business.  With extensive contacts in the industry, along with an outstanding reputation in DFW, they quickly grew the company by promoting a “Customer’s Interests First” philosophy.   Miles continues to bring a clear vision for the company with a strong background in performing and managing construction services.

Drew Rice

VP of Technology/DAS

Drew is a technology executive with 24 years of experience in various leadership roles. His technology and mobility expertise are in the areas of strategy, implementation, network architectures, and design. His technology strategies and tactics allow companies to achieve the best position in mobility applications and services such as 4G and 5G. He’s succeeded having direct involvement in the implementation and construction of over 7,500 wireless projects. Since 2008 Drew has been involved in projects that consisted of in-building wireless, outdoor DAS, Wi-Fi design, and implementation processes nationally. He has been responsible for the entire installation process for over 800 DAS projects which include both Academic and Professional Campus environments, Stadiums and Arenas, Casinos, Hospitals, and Hotels. Drew has worked closely with all the major carriers and OEM’s over the years which allows a unique view of the wireless industries evolutions.

Tim Rodgers

VP of Business Development

Tim Rodgers, Vice President of Business Development, earned his Building Construction degree from ULM in 1974. He brings more than forty years of highly diversified construction experience to Nouveau. His career has involved all aspects of commercial, institutional, industrial, and multi-family construction at all traditional job positions from estimator to vice president of operations. Most of his positions have been with large national contractors working on projects from coast to coast. This diversification has provided a very broad base of knowledge that he regularly uses to tackle virtually any construction project.

Tim is a “hands-on”, technically detailed, analytical, and goals-oriented manager whose experience, knowledge, and skill result in bottom-line benefits to the project team and our clients. His long proven dedication to achieving customer satisfaction by maintaining the highest quality standards, fastest product delivery, and most cost-effective solutions to product design has earned him a highly respected position in the construction industry.

Joyce Crum

Architect

Joyce Crum, RA, has been directly involved in the construction industry since 1974, working in the commercial, municipal, hospitality, healthcare, institutional, and higher education fields. As the owner of an architectural company for more than twenty years, and then as Associate Director of Physical Plant at UT Dallas for five years, she has overseen a wide diversity of projects, both locally and abroad, ranging up to $75 million.

Currently, Joyce is based in our Carrollton office and is responsible for providing support to Nouveau’s Project Managers in the day-to-day operations of the Construction Division and in Project Scheduling. She serves as the “go-to” person for Code and ADA issues, as well as concept development services for many of our clients. She also oversees Nouveau’s design-build services. She has been a member of Nouveau’s team for more than five years.

Joyce has a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas Tech University and is a Registered Professional Architect and Registered Interior Designer in the State of Texas.
